Two Twin Cities companies were selected as suppliers of the year at the North Central Minority Supplier Development Council annual meeting on Thursday, chosen from the many minority-owned companies in the five-state region.
The NCMSDC honored St. Louis Park-based Select Source International and Plymouth-based Tips Consulting, two informational technology consulting companies, as Suppliers of the Year in their respective classes.
SSI, whose clients include Medtronic, General Electric, AT&T, Toro Co., Xcel Energy Inc. and UnitedHealth Group, received the award for a minority-owned company with annual revenue exceeding $50 million.
Tips Consulting, which also works with Medtronic, as well as Land O’Lakes and Cargill, received the award for companies with annual revenue between $10 million and $49.9 million.
The NCMSDC helps minority vendors in Iowa, Minnesota, North and South Dakota, and Wisconsin do business with major corporations in those states.
Other award winners included Young G’s Barbeque, a company based in Des Moines, Iowa, which received the award for a business generating under $1 million in annual revenue, and Abaxent, a Pewaukee, Wis.-based information technology consulting firm, for the $1 million to $9.9 million annual revenue category.
